Today was the art crit of Eleanor Murley Jack Knighton and Lauren Smith. I was perticularly drawn to the aat created by Eleanor and the dark and spooky vibes it gave off. The 'horror' of her work was very prominent, as all of her paintings and drawings were significantly detailed, despite the scale of them and therefore stood out. Jacks work appears to be heavily influenced by the likes of Jackson Pollock, with the thick paint drips and the randomness of the patterns that have neeb created. I also like the use of materials in his work, sch as spray paint and heavy iron. Laurens work conveyesvery cold emotions of sadness and discomfort with life and the surroundings and by using simple colours such as blue and yellow, she has successfully created a painting deep with emotion.
