Today was the crit for Beth, Michaela and Kayleigh, who all provided a great and interesting insight to their work and the ideas they have that helped them create their pieces.
Kayleigh started out with her work, explaining to us all that she was focusing and basing all of her ideas on the subject of dreams and nightmares. She created various drawings and paintings to show us, all of various sizes and all with various detail. Har art portrays the creepy and scary visions of nightmares, while giving the audience many emotions to consider.
Michaela was next, who explained that she was very nvolved with the idea of photography and all of her ideas and pieces came straight from pictures of her friends and family. She creates some detailed drawings and paintings from the things she captures throught her camera. Most of her drawings are in black and white, with some spurts of colour here and there, which I think adds a good contrast to some of her full coloured photographs.
Finally we had Beth, who seems to portray abstract ideas to her art, through both drawings and paintings. Beth has large scale abstract expressionist paintings, which seem to contrast with her minature scale drawings of small animals such as birds, rabbits and small foxes. Her idea may be to combine the two styles and see what would happen if two ideas came together.
