What interests me about Monet is the way he uses very broad strokes of paint in his pieces. In his lilly pad series, sme of the lilly pads are created using the minimum amount of strokes and colour, yet its still very effective throughout the whole painting. The contrast of the lillypads to the background water is very effective too, whisch is something that drew me to Monet in the first place. Im drawn to Monet as an artist because of his fondness for nature and the outdoors. His paintings of flower fields and blue waters are something that interests me and would provide me with some good research material for my starting point of impressionism.
