Watery Backgrounds

This week I have focused more on the backgrounds of Monet's Water Lillies. I have created drawings, watercolours and acrylic paintings on A2 paper and I am currently painting a background on a 4ft x 3ft canvas. The backgrounds of Monet's paintings are usually muted and soft looking, creating a watery effect on the surface. I didn't want to create Monet's painting to the exact quality, but give it my own twist. As much as I have learnt from copying his work, giving it my own twist is a way to experiment with what I could do in the future.
